When Comet was first released in the mid-1970’s it was introduced as a high alpha hop variety. The malaise of the Carter years extended to Comet and the variety was all but extinct by the end of the decade. Comet is coming around again though, but this time it’s here to stay due to its wildly citrusy, grapefruit flavors with earthy undertones. Comet is the open source substitute for proprietary CITRusy varieties you probably can’t source.
