Another noble European emigrant to the U.S. The U.S. Tettnang is comparable to Saaz in that it has that herbal and earthy characteristics, but the fun doesn’t end there. If you’re looking for a hop to make a beer-flavored beers instead of something tropical or citrusy, U.S. Tettnang is one of a handful of varieties that can do the job. It has a relatively low co-humulone, which gives it the nobility of a European variety, enabling you to use it in lighter, less hoppy beers that won’t tolerate off flavors or mistakes.
