Crystal, along with its closely-related friends, Liberty and Ultra, is an American impression of Hallertau Mittelfruh. Its ancestry includes German Hallertau Mittelfruh, Cascade, Brewers Gold and Early Green and has been used in milder-style beers requiring the noble flavors traditionally associated with European varieties.
