Described by some as the “German version of Cascade on steroids”, Polaris was introduced in 2012 during an industry push for new flavor hops. This “fresh meets fruity” variety is similar to the Hallertau in sweetness but also exhibits glacier-like minty qualities. Polaris also has a surprisingly high Alpha Acid and Oil Content. Given these distinct qualities, substitution for this hop is nearly impossible without altering the result.
